April is a great time for photographers to focus on marketing for their photography business. Here are my top 7 photography marketing tips and ideas to help you get more clients.
1. Update Your Website and Photography Welcome Guide TemplatesAs the seasons change you’ll want to make sure your website and marketing materials reflect the current seasons. For example, in the Spring you’ll want to feature images that reflect springtime. Take some time to review your welcome guide templates and make sure the images reflect the current seasons as well.

2. Offer Spring-Themed Photography Mini SessionsSpring is one of the most popular times to offer photography mini sessions. Consider offering spring-themed mini sessions, such as cherry blossoms or tulip sessions, and promote them on social media and your website. Encourage clients to book their mini photo session early to secure their spot.
Partnering with other local businesses is a great way to reach new clients and build relationships in your community. Consider collaborating with a florist, wedding planner, or event venue to offer joint promotions or specials. You can also offer to take photos for their social media or website. If you each have an email list consider cross promoting each other’s businesses, especially if you’re working on a collaboration project together.
4. Teach a Photography WorkshopTeaching photography is a great way to share your knowledge, position your photography business as the expert in the area, and attract new photography clients. Consider teaching a basic digital photography workshop or a photography for kids spring camp. Promote the classes on your website and social media, and send out an email to your current and past photography clients. Consider partnering with a local community center or library to host the event. That could provide you with even more exposure for your photography business.
Using instagram hashtags is a great way to reach new audiences. Use relevant hashtags, such as #springphotography or #blossomseason, to help potential clients find your work. Remember to engage with your followers and respond to comments and direct messages.
6. Offer Limited-Time Discounts or SpecialsLimited-time discounts or specials are a great way to incentivize potential clients to book a session with you. Consider offering a spring discount on mini sessions or a complimentary print with a full session booking. Make sure to promote these specials on your website and social media with a clear call to action.
