How to use Instagram's IGTV in Your Photography Business

How to Use Instagram IGTV in your photography business

A lot of photographers use Instagram to market their photography business. So, I wanted to bring you a few tips today on the benefits of using Instagram's IGTV.

1) The Swipe Up Feature. One of the main benefit's I think is the fact that it allows you to use the swipe up feature even if you have less than 10,000 followers. Normally on Instagram you'll have to have 10,000 followers before you can use the swipe up feature on your stories. But, if you have IGTV, and you have less than 10,000 followers, you can still use the swipe up feature.  So for example, if you want to show a behind he scenes in your IGTV. In your story, you could put an image from the session and then you can type over it "swipe up to see behind the scenes" and then link it to your IGTV video that shows behind the scenes.

2) Longer Videos.  Another benefit of IGTV is that it allows you to record longer videos. On IGTV you can feature up to an hour long video.  So if you are a wedding photographer, essentially you could feature an entire wedding ceremony sample on there.

3) Vertical Videos.  With IGTV you don't have to worry about orientation of your phone. For example with FB Live you have to make sure you have your phone rotated properly, but with IGTV you can just record vertically.

Bonus benefits... I can imaging there are going to be be a lot more ways to track IGTV in the future, as far as being able to track those who viewed your video, and how much time they spent on the video, etc...I hope these quick tips have been helpful.  Let me know if you're using IGTV in the comments below.  I'd love to know how you are using it in your photography business and what you think of it.
